Robert Manka is the Director of the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit at the University Hospital Zürich, Switzerland. He completed his training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Bonn, the German Heart Institute Berlin, and the University Hospital Zürich. He undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the University of Zürich and ETH Zürich, focusing on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. His research centres on the development of cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging techniques, with particular emphasis on the assessment of ischaemic heart disease and heart failure. He serves on the editorial boards of the European Heart Journal, European Heart Journal – IMP, and Echocardiography. Professor Manka is the Vice President-elect of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) – Chair CMR, Chair of the EACVI CMR Laboratory Accreditation Committee and member of the EACVI CMR exam board.
