Robert Manka, M.D. is the director of the cardiac magnetic resonance imaging unit of the University Hospital Zürich, Switzerland. He received his medical degree in 2002 and was trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Bonn, German Heart Institute Berlin and the University Hospital Zürich. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering at the University and ETH Zürich in the field of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. His research centres on developing cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging methods, specifically for the assessment of ischemic heart disease and heart failure. He is a member of the Editorial board of the European Heart Journal , European Heart Journal Methods and Practice and Echocardiography. Furthermore, Professor Manka is the Vice President elect (CMR) of the ESC-EACVI, Chair for ESC CMR Laboratory Accreditation and ESC CMR Exam Board member.
