Marcus Carlsson started as an Investigator at the National Institutes of Health, NHLBI Bethesda USA in January 2021. There he has started the Clinical Physiology laboratory in a collaboration with Medstar Washington Hospital Center. This program will focus on developing and implementing new cardiac imaging techniques, primarily cardiac MRI, to understand, diagnose and guide treatment for heart failure. To this end, he uses experimental and clinical research to quantify pumping physiology, myocardial perfusion, intraventricular blood flow, tissue viability, and valvular function.
Dr. Carlsson has been an associate professor at Clinical Physiology, Department of Clinical Sciences Lund, Lund University since 2010. In Lund, he started a research line on heart failure in congenital heart disease using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.
