Member of:

European Heart Rythm Association

Carol Ann Remme MD PhD FESC is Associate Professor of Basic and Translational Electrophysiology at the Department of Experimental Cardiology, Amsterdam University Medical Center. Her research focuses on inherited disorders associated with cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD), including SCN5A channelopathies and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM), incorporating clinical and genetic findings with functional and mechanistic studies in transgenic models and human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived (iPSC) cardiomyocytes. Her work is furthermore aimed at identifying disease modifiers, new pathways mediating arrhythmia risk, as well as novel targets for the prevention and treatment of arrhythmias and SCD. Dr Remme is treasurer of the ESC Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science, and member of the ESC Communication Committee and ESC Advocacy Committee. She is Deputy Editor of EP Europace and Physiological Reviews, and Associate Editor of Cardiovascular Research.
