Associate Professor Zhong is heading cardiovascular engineering and technologies theme and co-director of cardiovascular system imaging and AI Lab at NHRIS. He is also serving as Director of College of Healthcare Engineering. His research interests include cardiovascular imaging, mechanics and physiology, multiscale computational modelling, and development of novel technology towards applications in clinical research. Professor Zhong is leading clinical studies (e.g. INITIATE, ECONOMY, APOLLO) in many studies such as congenital heart disease, coronary artery disease, pulmonary artery disease and cardiomyopathies. He has published more than 180 peer reviewed publications; was invited for more than 50 lectures; and been awarded more than 12 million SGD as PI in research grant funding . He is serving as member of the Editorial Boards of Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical & Biology Engineering & Computing, Frontier in Physiology, .
