Jose M. Guerra received the M.D. degree in Medicine from the Universidad of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1994 and trained as a Cardiology Fellow at Hospital Vall d’Hebron, Barcelona until 2001. He continued as Cardiac EP Fellow in Barcelona and later at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology (Indiana University) and the University of California San Francisco, USA. He received his PhD from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 2008. He is currently Attending Physician at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i San Pau, Barcelona, Associate Professor of Medicine at UAB, Research Group leader of the Cardiology Dept. and group leader of the local node of CIBERCV. His research interests focus on the genesis, progression and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure, combining clinical and translational studies with computer models and simulations. He speaks Spanish, Catalan, English and French. His hobbies include reading, music, traveling , mountaineering, and sailing.
