Professor Sheppard is head of the CRY Cardiovascular Pathology Unit at St George’s Medical School, London. She is a specialist cardiac pathologist and has established a national cardiac referral centre with funding from the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to investigate sudden young cardiac deaths in UK. She qualified in medicine from University College Cork and did her postgraduate specialization in pathology in London. She is national trainer for cardiac pathology for forensic and general pathology trainees in UK. She has published 400 peer reviewed papers, 35 book chapters, and written 3 books on cardiac Pathology. She is on the board of European Association of Cardiovascular Pathology and was President from 2016-2018. She is President of Pathology Section of Royal Society of Medicine and In on the National board of Coroners and Pathologists pilot study of Sudden cardiac death in UK from 2020. She is co director of Cardiac Biobank at St Georges Medical School.
