Naveed Sattar is internationally recognised in cardiometabolic disease. He has epidemiology, mechanistic and trial expertise in diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease and contributed to several other randomised lifestyle trials. He has contributed to several trials of pharmaceutical agents in diabetes and to 8 national/international guidelines with relevance to diabetes, obesity and CV disease. He has co-authored over 1300 published papers and been cited >135K times (Web of Science) and >220K (Google Scholar), and appeared in the top 1% of cited clinical academics in the world annually since 2014 (Highly Cited Researcher). He was recipient of the Banting Lecture by Diabetes UK in 2023 and is a previous recipient of the Camillo Golgi and Minkowski Award Lectures by EASD. He is an Associate Editor for Diabetes Care. In late 2023 he was appointed as the UK Government’s new Obesity Mission Chair.
