Studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, became a professor of biochemistry in the same school and a member of Biochemistry College of Professors.
Acomplished a first residence in emergency room medicine in 1990 and in that year started a residence programme in cardiology at the National institute of Cardiology Ignacio Chavez in México city. After graduating as a cardiologist, spent a full time year training in heart catheterization and since 1994 has been a cardiologist at the same institute in which has remained since then.
Also became a professor of heart, lung and kidney Physiology for the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Since 2021 has occupied the Cardiology Department Head which incorporates adult congenital heart disease, vascular and aortic disease, heart failure and transplantation, and general cardiology.
