Giulio Zucchelli was born in Livorno, Italy — the birthplace of Mascagni and Modigliani — and graduated cum laude in Medicine from the University of Pisa in 2000. He completed his specialization in Cardiology cum laude in 2004 and earned a PhD in Pathophysiology and Clinical Aspects of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Diseases in 2008. He obtained EHRA certification in Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology (4th highest score in 2008) and in Cardiac Pacing and Defibrillation (2nd highest score in 2008). His clinical expertise includes interventional electrophysiology and ablation, as well as lead extraction, leadless pacing, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), transvenous cardiac pacing, and all forms of defibrillation therapy. He has been working at the Second Division of Cardiology, University Hospital of Pisa since 2009, where he is Director since Jan 2025. He's author or co-author of 130 publications (h-index 23, Scopus June 2025) and 7 books.
