Dr Malcolm Finlay is a Consultant Electrophysiologist and Honorary Reader at Barts Heart Centre & QMUL, London, and is an inventor of several medical technologies, including Epicardio Ld. (4D heart simulation) and STAR Apollo Mapping (Rhythm AI). He recently developed “all-optical ultrasound”, a novel paradigm for sensing & imaging for minimally invasive procedures, this will be commercialised by Echopoint Ltd, a spin-out company from UCL. He qualified from Oxford University in Medicine in 2001, and gained his PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology in 2014 from UCL, for which he held a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship. Outside of cardiology, his interests include aviation (holding a private pilot’s license), filmmaking (straight8.net) and sports.
