Professor Katerina Naka

Katerina K. Naka MD, PhD, FESC was born in Greece and graduated with distinction from the University of Ioannina Medical School. She accomplished her PhD in University of Wales College of Medicine on the role of arterial stiffness in acute physical exercise in healthy subjects and heart failure patients. She was fully trained in Cardiology and has been working in the Second Department of Cardiology, Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Ioannina since 2006. She is currently a Professor with full-time clinical duties in Ioannina University Hospital and Head of the HF Unit. She is a Board member of the European Exam on Core Cardiology (EECC) and Chair of the Selection Committee. She has published ca. 160 papers with >9,000 citations and an h-index of 44 (mid 2024). Her research interests include heart failure, cardiomyopathies, atherosclerosis and prevention, non-invasive and invasive imaging, valvular interventions, machine-learning and biomedical engineering.
