Dr. Mathijs van Schie is a technical physician (clinical technologist) and assistant professor in electrophysiological signal processing and artificial intelligence (AI) applications. He is affiliated to the Department of Cardiology at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam (NL). He obtained a master of science degree in technical medicine with a specialization in medical signal processing and analysis techniques at the University of Twente in 2018. In 2024, he obtained his PhD degree from the Erasmus University Rotterdam with his dissertation entitled 'Decoding atrial fibrillation: personalized identification and quantification of electropathology'. His current research focuses on advanced signal processing, applied analytics and (explainable) AI in mechanistic arrhythmia research. In 2025, he was promoted to assistant professor. His multidisciplinary expertise reflects his commitment to improving arrhythmia diagnostics and treatment through technology.
