Professor Nita Forouhi

Professor Nita Forouhi is head of the Nutritional Epidemiology programme and Professor of Population Health and Nutrition at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Epidemiology Unit, University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on defining the link between diet, nutrition and the risk of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease, and in informing prevention strategies nationally and globally. She trained as a physician in Newcastle and Edinburgh, and as an epidemiologist and public health physician in London and Cambridge. She is a member of several national and international committees including the World Health Organization and she serves on the EAT-Lancet Commission. She has published more than 350 peer reviewed scientific articles, has an h-Index of 133 and more than 150K citations of her research. She enjoys teaching, training, mentoring and building capacity. She is also the Clinical School's Director of Organisational Affairs, championing a positive research culture.
