Janet Hanley has Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD from Queen Margaret University. She has a clinical background in community nursing and community service development and NHS research management.
Her research interests include the interface between self-care and health care and the introduction of new technologies into health care and she has run successful clinical trials of telemonitoring in a range of long term conditions, including hypertension. She was involved in the successful development of a national blood pressure telemonitoring service in Scotland and is currently using routine clinical records to measure the impact of that service on the incidence of major cardiovascular events.
Scale Up BP: Integrating blood pressure telemonitoring data into existing family practice data flows is key to widespread adoption of the technology in Scotland
