Professor Isabel Deisenhofer

German Heart Center Muenchen Technical University of Munich, Munich (Germany)

Member of:

European Society of Cardiology
European Heart Rythm Association

Isabel Deisenhofer pursued her medical school and cardiology training at Technical University of Munich German Heart Center Munich. There, she joined the EP group headed by her mentor Prof. Claus Schmitt. Funded by the German Research Association (DFG) she spent 1.5 years at the Bordeaux University EP group (Head: Prof. Michel Haissaguerre). Coming back to Munich, she founded and heads together with Prof. Gabriele Hessling the Department of Electrophysiology at the German Heart Center Munich and the MARS Center (Munich Arrhythmia Research and Study Center). Her research focus is mapping and ablation of complex cardiac arrhythmias, e.g. persistent AF, LA tachycardias and VT. She has a large publication record with (co-)authorship in many important studies published in all major medical journals like e.g. the “TAILORED AF” trial. She is/was member/chair in several EHRA committees and EHRA board, author in EHRA consensus documents and course director in EHRA EP courses.
