Nicolle Kränkel is currently the Secretary of the European association of Preventive Cardiology and chair of the ESC “Prevention of CVD” programme. Dr. Kränkel holds an engineering degree in biotechnology (2001) and a PhD in biology (2006), as well as the title “Privatdozentin” for the area of experimental cardiovacular medicine (2018). Dr. Kränkel is a teacher and researcher at the Charité campus Benjamin Franklin in Berlin (Germany). Her research interest lies in molecular and cellular mechanisms mediating personal cardiovascular risk, specifically interactions between the various players of the immune system and other organs, such as the vascular endothelium, the heart, the liver and adipose tissue, during the pathogenesis of various cardiovascular diseases and in response to therapy.
