Dr. Stainback is Past President of the ASE and Chief, Noninvasive Cardiology at the Texas Heart Institute, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Houston, Texas and associate professor of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine. He has studied innumerable mechanical circulatory device and complex Coronary & valve disease cases. He has special interest in quality echocardiography laboratory operations and is past-president of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC)-Echo Division Board and past president of the IAC Parent Company Board. He was a co-author of the ACCF’s initial Echo Appropriateness guidelines (2007, 2008) and a member of the ACC Foundation's Appropriate Use Oversight Committee during publication of ASEF 2011 Echo Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for echo & 2013 multimodality stable CAD. He co-authored the ASE’s quality echo lab operations guidelines (2011) and chaired the ASE's 2015 Guideline: Echocardiography in the management of LVADs.
