Dr. Vitaris Kodogo is a medical scientist. He is an enthusiastic researcher with an interest in cardiovascular biomarker discovery. He specializes in clinical proteomics, LC-MS/MS, Next generation sequencing, translational medicine, atherosclerosis, lipid abnormalities, and cardio-oncology.
He did his Ph.D. work on Peripartum cardiomyopathy at the Cape Heart Institute, University of Cape Town in 2020. He worked with the in-vivo model, in-vitro model, and pregnant mothers to understand the cardiovascular molecular, structural, and functional changes that occur during pregnancy and the mechanisms involved during the reverse remodeling. He enjoys performing echocardiography and micro-surgery in murine models. Vitaris also participated in cardiotoxicity studies at the Cape Heart Institute before moving for postdoctoral training to the RWF Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of the Free State.
