Petra Schäfer-Keller is an experienced nurse and nurse scientist. She undertakes research in complex interventions in health, where she has developed a research programme for the development and evaluation of complex nursing interventions for people with heart failure and their informal caregivers. Her research includes observational, clinical and multiple-methods studies. She is also engaged in the supervision of doctoral students in nursing science at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. She is among very few nurse researchers in Switzerland contributing to Heart Failure care, where nursing research has largely been absent. Petra Schäfer-Keller was the first woman to earn a PhD in nursing science at a Swiss university and was among the first cohort to develop an advanced nurse practitioner role in clinical practice in Switzerland. Petra Schäfer-Keller enjoys spending time with her husband and their three children and is also a passionate horse rider.
