Dr Joanna Abramik is a Specialty Registrar in Interventional Cardiology in South West England. Her clinical interest is in management of coronary artery disease. She is currently undertaking a Clinical Research Fellowship at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHSFT. Her research focuses on the impact of a cardiac rehabilitation programme (known as MICROFIT) on symptoms of angina and functional capacity in patients with coronary microvascular dysfunction. Dr Abramik is also member of the BCS Women in Cardiology Committee. The mission of the WIC Committee is to increase diversity within cardiology to reflect the patient population served. Dr Abramik’s work aims to challenge the barriers that discourage skilled and capable trainees from entering the cardiology as a career, by enhancing the visibility of women in cardiology, providing structured networking opportunities and fostering supportive mentorship.
