Doctor Ritu Thamman

Dr. Thamman is a cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Echocardiography and was the co-chair of the Industry Round Table, a think tank for echocardiography and innovation. She is the founder and chair of ASE’s Women in Echo and ASE’s Twitter Journal Club. She is a member of the AHA’s Health-Tech Advisory Group and served as ACC’s Co-chair for telehealth standards for consumer devices. She served on the ACC’s Women in Cardiology Leadership Council and founded the ACC’s PA chapter of Women in Cardiology. Her research work centers on using technology and community-based strategies to close gaps in cardiovascular care—particularly for women and marginalized populations focusing on the mitral valve and innovative implementation tools for cardiovascular disease.One of her accolades include receiving the Carl R. Fuhrman Clinical Educator of the Year at the UPSOM.
