Professor Costanza Emanueli

Imperial College London, London (United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland)

Costanza Emanueli was born in Florence (Italy) and studied there to PhD level. After training at different Italian and US sites, she moved to the UK as British Heart Foundation (BHF) Senior Lecturer in 2005 and quickly moved to professorship. She is currently a BHF Chair in Cardiovascular Science at the Imperial College of London. She is FAHA and a member of many editorial boards (CVR, Circ Res, ATVB, Molecular Therapy, Plos One, Vascular Pharmacology, Atherosclerosis) and international grant awarding panels. She contributes, collaborates and provides leadership in national and international consortia. Her research aims at understanding and correcting ischaemic disease and diabetes cardiovascular complications and focuses on regulatory RNAs and extracellular vesicles. She uses the mind-set of a basic scientist to help and solve real clinical needs, which are very often neglected. She holds both Italian and British citizenships.
