Amsterdam University Medical Centre, Amsterdam (Netherlands (The))
Since his registration as a Nuclear Medicine physician (2001) he has been working as a staff member (i.e. equal to consultant) on the department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the Amsterdam UMC, University of Amsterdam. The work in this academic medical setting has been based and organised on three pillars: clinical work, teaching and research. As vice-chair of the resident training program Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (i.e. 35 residents) he enjoys his enthusiasm for teaching. His scientific interest focuses on cardiovascular disease, (co-)authoring more than 230 publications in peer-reviewed journals (Hirsch index: 52; total number of citations 11033). Last but not least he has a strong interest in international (i.e. primarily European) collaboration to optimise and harmonise clinical nuclear cardiology. This interest is best illustrated by his former role as chair of the cardiovascular committee of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM).
