Professor Sorin V Pislaru

Doctor Sorin V. Pislaru completed medical school at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, and received his Ph.D. from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. He then continued his training at Mayo Clinic Rochester, where he completed his residency and cardiology fellowship, as part of the combined clinician-investigator track. Upon his graduation, Dr. Pislaru joined the Mayo Clinic faculty, dividing his time between the Echo Lab, Valve Clinic, and research. He is currently a Professor of Medicine and Chair of the Division of Structural Heart Disease at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Pislaru has presented both nationally and internationally and has authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests are focused on valvular diseases, myocardial elasticity, and development and imaging guidance of percutaneous valvular interventions.
