Dr. Verwerft obtained his bachelor's and doctoral degrees in medicine from KU Leuven. During his specialization in cardiology at KU Leuven, he completed residencies at OLV Hospital in Aalst, UZ Leuven, and AZDelta Roeselare. Since 2006, he has been working as a cardiologist at the Hartcentrum Hasselt, where he focuses on diagnosing and treating heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) in a specialized dyspnea clinic. His primary area of interest is in the use of exercise echocardiography combined with cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPETecho).
