Yang is an academic cardiologist in training based at London teaching hospitals (UCLH, Barts Heart Centre) and University College London (UCL). Yang studied medicine at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2013. He began his specialty cardiology training in 2017 and was awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at UCL. He has additionally completed an Executive MSc at the London School of Economics and Political Science (2018-2021) with Distinction. Since 2021, he has been undertaking a PhD focused on digitally enabled clinical trials at the UCL Institute of Health Informatics. He has an interest in health economics and clinical decision-making and is co-author of the book "Thinking about thinking: a prescription for healthcare improvement" (2024), which examines cognitive biases in healthcare, decision-support tools and the future of medicine.
