Dr. Matthew Roe is a cardiologist, a clinical researcher, and a senior scientific leader with deep experience working in the academic research environment, the health technology field, and the pharmaceutical industry As a clinical investigator at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) from 1999-2020, Dr. Roe partnered with life sciences companies and medical professional societies to design and execute phase II-IV cardio-metabolic clinical trials and prospective observational registries. As the Chief Medical Officer of the health technology company, Verana Health, from 2020-2022, Dr. Roe led the medical team that focused upon ensuring the clinical validity and scientific integrity of the real-world data curation and clinical research activities. Since 2022, Dr. Roe has been the Vice President, Head of Early Clinical Development for the Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic (CVRM) Therapeutic Area at Astra Zeneca leading a global team of physicians and clinical scientists.
