Professor Marta Czesnikiewicz-Guzik

Prof. Marta Czesnikiewicz-Guzik BDS, PhD, FRCPS(Glasg) – university lecturer, academic, mentor, scientist, dentist specialising in periodontology and oral surgery. She graduated in 2002 from the dentistry program of the Medical School of the Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. Afterwards, she did her PhD and specialty training in oral surgery at the same University. She travelled for her postdoctoral training to the Lowance Centre for Human Immunology, Emory University, Atlanta, USA. During this time, she developed a particular interest in immune mechanisms driving periodontitis and how this disease influences systemic health. Subsequently, she received her assistant professor position at Jagiellonian University and became the head of the department of Evidence-Based Dentistry of Jagiellonian University, and later she became a full professor, becoming the Head of the Department of Periodontology, Dental Prophylaxis, and Oral Medicine.
