Dr. Gerard Linssen, FESC, is a clinical cardiologist and staff member of a large general hospital in the Netherlands, collaborating as a teaching hospital with the Universities of Groningen and Twente. He was trained at the University Medical Center in Maastricht. His fields of interest are: heart failure, cardiovascular pharmotherapy, biomarkers, imaging, acute cardiac care. His research topics are heart failure management, clinical application of natriuretic peptides, atrial fibrillation, e-Health, telemonitoring, frailty, coronary stents. His PhD-thesis (University of Groningen, 2011): BNP and NT-proBNP in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Linssen and his teams publish in core medical journals. 2012 -2017: board member of the Dutch working group on Heart failure. He is actively involved in many randomized clinical trials. He acts as study director and former board member of the Dutch cardiovascular Research Network. He is national leader of PARAGON-HF, PARALLAX-HF and FINEARTS-HF studies.
