Dr Antonio de Marvao is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King’s College London (KCL) and a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Inherited Cardiac Conditions, as well as an Obstetric Physician with a special interest in maternal cardiology and hypertension in pregnancy. His research group seeks to understand the genomic and physiological mechanisms underlying cardiovascular dysfunction in pregnancy, particularly gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia and heart failure, and their impact on maternal and fetal health. Using genomics, deep maternal and fetal cardiovascular phenotyping, and machine-learning analysis of longitudinal population-scale clinical data, the team characterises pathways driving healthy cardiovascular adaptation or pathological remodelling, enabling improved risk stratification, personalised management and targeted therapies across the life course.
