Deddo Moertl, MD, is Senior Cardiologist at the University Hospital St. Pölten, Karl Landsteiner University, Austria, where he heads the Heart Failure Unit and founded the Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, which he led for more than a decade. Among the first certified Heart Failure Specialists in Austria, he also holds the ESC Master Degree in Pulmonary Vascular Disease. His scientific focus is on heart failure, with extensive experience as principal investigator in clinical trials. He pioneered the establishment of a clinical trial unit in St. Pölten and was awarded the title Privatdozent (habilitation) in cardiology by the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Moertl has a strong commitment to teaching and postgraduate training. He serves on the board of the Austrian Society of Cardiology, co-founded its Task Force Digital Health, chairs the national examination board for the Austrian cardiology specialist exam, and is board member of the European Exam in Core Cardiology (EEGC).
