Associate professor Hamrefors research is focused primarily on cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction, both from the view of the clinical entities syncope and orthostatic intolerance and from the view of cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease in general terms. He has published 77 articles and is the main supervisor of four PhD students, of which one has defended her thesis. Associate professor Hamrefors also works as a medical doctor at the Syncope unit, a tertiary syncope center, at the Department of Cardiology at Skåne University Hospital, Malmö, Sweden.
