Dr. Postema received his MD cum laude from the Free University Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2005, and his PhD cum laude from the University of Amsterdam in 2010. After postgraduate cardiology training in 2015 at the Amsterdam Academic Medical Center, he joined staff in 2017 as associate professor and fully EHRA certified cardiologist-electrophysiologist in both implantable devices (ECDS) as well as invasive electrophysiology (ECES). Alongside caring for cardiology patients, Dr. Postema is involved in many research projects in both pre-clinical elements of ventricular arrhythmia (including genetics and pre-clinical models), and in clinical evaluations and treatment of both rare and acquired ventricular arrhythmia (e.g. inheritable syndromes or myocardial ischemia) in strong national and international collaborations. In addition, he is actively involved in management and committees both at his department, in EHRA and, e.g., the European Medicines Agency.
