Mr Ivan Melnikov

National Medical Research Center of Cardiology, Moscow (Russian Federation)

Ivan Melnikov, MD came to National Medical Research Center of Cardiology, Moscow, in 2014. Since that time he has been researching inflammatory cell and molecular interactions in patients with stable coronary artery disease. Resently I. Melnikov participated in the development of novel microfluidic system that measures the kinetics of platelet adhesion in real time. The system is designed in a way that it allows activating von Willebrand factor in whole blood under flow conditions. Current research of I. Melnikov is largerly dedicated to studies of von Willebrand factor dependent platelet adhesion in patients with premature coronary artery disease.

Shear stress induced unfolding of von willebrand factor may be involved in the premature development of myocardial infarction
