Dr. Sakata graduated from Osaka University in 1991. In 2001, he completed his doctorate at Osaka University and then studied at Brigham and Women's Hospital. In 2004-2012, he worked for the Osaka Acute Coronary Insufficiency Study (N=12,000) at Osaka University. In 2012, he was promoted to Associated Professor at Tohoku University and served as the chief for the CHART-2 study, one of the largest chronic heart failure cohort studies in Japan (N=10,217). In 2021, he was appointed Director of the Department of Clinical Medicine and Development at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, Japan. His areas of expertise include clinical trials, observational studies, genomic and omics analysis, and metabolic cardiomyopathy, including triglyceride deposit cardiomyo-vasculopathy (TGCV). Since 2024, He has also served as a visiting professor at Osaka University and a board member of the Japanese Heart Failure Society (JHFS) and the Japanese Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (JACR).
