Dr. Jang is a full Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, also holding the titles of the Harvard Chair ‘Allan and Gill Gray Professor of Medicine’ at Harvard Medical School. In 2022, he received the ‘Distinguished Scientist Award’ from the American College of Cardiology, one of the most prestigious awards in cardiology. He has served on the nomination committee for the ‘Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine’ for 7 years, including the past 6 consecutive years. Dr. Jang arrived at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1987 after completing his training in medicine and fellowship in cardiology and successfully defending his doctoral thesis at Leuven University in Belgium. Dr Jang’s research has focused on coronary atherosclerosis. His earlier research focused on the pharmacology and physiology of thrombosis and thrombolysis, including the thrombin hypothesis and platelet inhibition.
