As a physician-scientist and medical educator with over 10 years’ experience in managing patients with cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Kalokola has dedicated his career to increasing understanding and awareness related to hypertension, heart failure and other cardiovascular disease in East Africa. His research has focused on increasing an understanding of the epidemiology of hypertension in Tanzania to inform new low-cost strategies for reducing the morbidity and mortality related to hypertension in East Africa. His other works has involved investigating the causes and consequences of heart failure in Tanzania to improve care for people with heart failure in East Africa, both in the hospital and in the clinic. His hobbies include travelling (tasting local dishes, visiting museums) and listening to classic music. While on the road he prefers reading books and watching documentaries on nature, science and discoveries.
