Professor Wai Hong Wilson Tang

Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland (United States of America)

Dr. Tang is Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. As a practicing heart failure/transplant cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic specialized in cardiomyopathies, cardio-renal diseases, and cancer-related heart disease, Dr. Tang’s primary research interest is to investigate how the heart interacts with other organs in the setting of heart failure. Dr. Tang’s translational research focuses on understanding the mechanisms through which inflammation, oxidation, and nitrative stress contribute to disease progression in heart failure and cardiomyopathy in humans. Inducted into American Society of Clinical Investigation in 2013 and Association for American Physicians in 2018, Dr. Tang’s recent research efforts have unraveled the contributions of novel intestinal microbiota-related metabolomic pathways in human heart failure and renal failure pathogenesis.
