Thierry Pedrazzini, Ph.D., has been a Professor at King’s College London, UK, since March 2024, where he holds the Chair of Experimental Cardiology in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. Previously, he was a faculty member at the University of Lausanne Medical School in Switzerland. Over the years, his laboratory has focused on mechanisms of adaptation that enable regeneration in damaged myocardium. His group has been at the forefront of research on the noncoding genome, particularly long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). These lncRNAs are key regulators of epigenetic remodeling, with enhancer-templated lncRNAs playing critical roles in the heart's response to stress. By targeting these enhancer-associated lncRNAs, his work explores novel strategies to reactivate the dormant regenerative potential of the adult mammalian heart.
