Mirko De Melis, Ph.D., Technical Fellow, is currently Distinguished Clinical Research Advisor for the Medtronic Cardiac Rhythm Management Unit globally. Coming from several years as hypertension researcher in the Academic arena, he’s now with Medtronic for 15 years where he held several positions in R&D, Medical Affairs and Clinical Research focusing on Atrial Fibrillation , Stroke and Heart Failure. In his current role he is responsible for the External Research Program and related Clinical Evidence Strategy ; he’s active in evidence generation co-authoring several clinical research manuscripts in collaboration with the medical community. His experience includes also coordination roles in active Projects granted under the Horizon Europe including the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions jointly with Academic Centers. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the Marche Polytechnic University (Italy)and the University of Gent (Belgium). He has an active membership of ESC, EHRA, AHA and ESO.
