George Giannakoulas, MD, PhD is Professor of Cardiology and Head of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Clinics at AHEPA University Hospital, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is also Adjunct Associate Professor at the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine, Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. He is actively involved in multiple international clinical trials in heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Dr Giannakoulas has spent most of his career in Thessaloniki, with a two-year fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. He is the immediate past Chairperson of the ESC Working Group on Pulmonary Circulation and Right Ventricular Function (2022–2024). He has authored 451 PubMed-indexed publications (≈25,500 citations; h-index 48) and serves as Associate Editor of the Hellenic Journal of Cardiology and the International Journal of Cardiology: Congenital Heart Disease.
