Jagat Narula, MD, PhD, FESC, MACC, a world-renowned physician-scientist and leader in academic medicine, is the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, Houston, Texas, where he works with 7 deans and members of the UTHealth Houston leadership team to advance the academic mission and promote excellence in education and research. He is also the current President of the World Heart Federation. Dr. Narula’s far-reaching experience includes leading cardiology programs, heart failure-transplantation program, and cardiovascular imaging programs, as well as global health initiatives, and grant-funded translational research that advances clinical care, with an emphasis on heart disease prevention in patients and communities globally. He has served as Editor-in-Chief/Executive Editor of JACC Imaging, JACC and Global Heart, and is the editor of Hurst's the Heart with Dr. Fuster.
