Dr. João L. Cavalcante earned his medical degree the Universidade Federal do Ceará in Fortaleza, Brazil. He is the Section Head for Cardiac Imaging and Director of Cardiac MRI at the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute, the largest cardiology practice in the Twin cities. His passion and track record is in multimodality Imaging and focus on valve and structural heart disease.
He currently leads the SCMR - Valvular Heart Disease Working Group and was the Programme Chair for the 2023 SCMR Scientific Meeting. He is Associate Editor for the European Heart Journal, and Editorial Consultant for the European Heart Journal Cardiovascular Imaging.
