I took my degree and training at University of Pavia School of Medicine in Italy and currently work as Scientific Consultant for Maria Cecilia Hospital- GVM Care&Research, in Cotignola, Italy. I served as President of the Italian Federation of Cardiology and I was chairman of the ESC-European Observational Research Programme of the ESC. My fields of interest in research concern the pathophysiology and clinical course of the ischaemic heart disease and heart failure. I participated in several large international clinical trials and observational studies. I authored more than 800 peer-reviewed papers and 24 books on cardiovascular pathophysiology and clinical investigations.
