Tudor Poerner, MD, is currently employed as Head of the Department of Cardiology, Pneumology and Medical Intensiv Care at the Asklepios Klinik Wandsbek in Hamburg, Germany. He has completed his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Heidelberg and has been employed as Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology at the University Heart Center Jena, serving also as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Germany. Dr. Poerner has leading expertise in the field of clinical cardiology and is conducting training programs in interventional cardiology and cardiac imaging. His research topics include acute coronary syndromes and cardiogenic shock, coronary physiology, minimal invasive valve therapies, optical coherence tomography, intracardiac and intravascular ultrasound, and development of novel drug-delivery by stent and balloon coatings.
