Alison Pottle has worked in cardiac nursing for over 35 years. She is Consultant Nurse in Cardiology at Harefield Hospital which is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, and has been in this post since 2000, one of the first posts in cardiology in the UK. Her role within cardiology is varied and she is responsible for setting up and running a variety or nurse-led services, including PCI follow-up clinics, pre-admission clinics, a Rapid Access Chest Pain service, nurse-led discharge, the TAVI service and the lipoprotein apheresis unit. She is the clinical lead for the apheresis unit which has been operation since 2000 and is the largest in the country. Alison is particularly interested in cholesterol management and is planning to undertake a PhD looking at the use of apheresis for long COVID. Alison has an MSc in Cardiology and is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and a Trustee for HEART UK, the cholesterol charity.
