Doctor Erin Howden

Associate Professor Erin Howden is a National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellow and head of the Cardiometabolic Health and Exercise Physiology Lab and lead of the Physical Activity Program at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Erin’s research program examines the physiological mechanisms underpinning the decline in cardiovascular health and fitness across the healthy aging and heart failure continuum and the role of exercise interventions to improve cardiovascular health. Her research also focuses on the area of Cardio-Oncology, where she is conducting studies to understand who is most at risk of cardiovascular toxicity following cancer treatment and the role of exercise to prevent cardiovascular toxicity.
