Professor Dr. Philipp C. Lurz, MD, PhD received his medical degree and medical doctor from the University of Leipzig, Germany. From 2006 to June 2009, he was a research fellow at the University College of London and the Institute of Child Health and worked as a clinical fellow in the cardiology unit of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and The Heart Hospital in London. At present, he is the deputy head of the Cardiology Department at Heart Center Leipzig at the University of Leipzig, Germany. Working as an interventional cardiologist, he is the lead of the congenital structural interventional programme, of the MitraClip and Tricuspid Repair programme as well as responsible for interventional heart failure therapies. He is a board-certified specialist in grown up congenital heart disease (GUCH), interventional cardiology and magnetic resonance imaging (SCMR competence level III). His major area of research is related to structural heart disease and Heart Failure with Preserved
