Professor Liuzzo is the Director of the Emergency Cardiology Unit at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, overseeing emergency, subintensive, and outpatient care. She also leads the STEMI/NSTEMI team. She is an Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Rome and serves on the Board of the PhD program in Cellular and Molecular Clinical Research. Her expertise in IHD is internationally recognized, with research focus on inflammation, immunity, and coronary plaque instability. Her translational studies have helped define a pathogenetic classification of ACS, offering a framework to understand the mechanisms of coronary instability. She aims to develop a personalized approach to diagnosis and treatment. Professor Liuzzo is an Associate Editor of the European Heart Journal and an active member of national and international advisory boards and working groups. She is currently engaged in cardiovascular prevention programs by the Italian Ministry of Health.
