Prof. John R. Teerlink, MD, FACC, FAHA, FESC, FHFA, FHFSA, FRCP(London) is Director of Heart Failure and of Echocardiography at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) in USA. He received an MD from Harvard Medical School and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship at UCSF. He is actively involved in the design and execution of many heart failure clinical trials investigating a variety of new drugs and devices, as well as working with regulatory agencies. He serves as a consultant on pre-clinical and clinical development programs in cardiology, as well as in non-cardiovascular indications, and has recently served on the ESC Acute Heart Failure Committee and is currently the President for the Heart Failure Society of America. He lived in Basel, Switzerland for two years and greatly values his international friends, colleagues and collaboration.
